Those headlights look so awesome!!!!
The sheets of rain are looking good now, too. ^ _^
"Brake only" option works great, I love it! = DDD
Original mode is pretty smooth now. Looking forward to OutRun mode!
Things I noticed:
- no sound FX when activate Turbo now
- title screen still says 0.3.8D (not e)
- flickering 1-pixel border around title & (fainter) options screens
- "Keyboard rebind" showed some keys in French
- "Gamepad rebind" doesn't save my buttons between sessions
- having both "Throttle"/"Brake" and "ThrottleButton"/"BrakeButton" on "Gamepad rebind" is confusing
- having button assignments on both "Gamepad settings" and "Gamepad rebind" is confusing
- Switching options screens by scrolling to screen title is confusing
- "Back to title" button only on every other option screen is confusing
- "Gamepad rebind" shows PS buttons once I press a button on my DualSense--but the buttons are still Xbox-style-only on upgrade screen
- Yellow selection highlight on options screens is hard to see
- For just changing overall volume, a Master Volume slider would be easier than having to adjust 6 sliders
- Hard to match up the sliders by eyeball--a numeric readout to go with them would help (and would help when noting down settings)
- bitmapped text--like on the main menu, upgrade screen, and name-entry screen--is slightly blurry (1080p)
- I'd use an option to turn off the unlabeled green driving gauges (below, and right of car, and on both sides of the screen); I don't really know what they do (can't remember even when I had it explained to me), don't use them, and find them ugly and distracting
- The championship rules (5 races, 3 to win, etc) are still kinda complicated for my brain to take in; they're explained now on the main menu which is really good but once I'm confronted with the "Race 1 of 5, 3 races to win, Lives remaining: 3" text at the start of races I feel all confused again, and it doesn't really stay up long enough to absorb.
- Also: when I got to race 4 of 5 (35:50) it said "0 races to win" which seemed really confusing--like, had I won? Why hadn't it ended there? It's so confusing. = o
- The upgrade screen pretty much works now, but I still find the combination of repair and upgrade actions in the same interface a bit confusing. Might be something to do with the big, middle window? That window describes a version of the part but not necessarily the one scheduled for repair or upgrade or something, I think? Maybe if a) scheduling repair changes the part icon at the top blue or something, like upgrade changes it to green and b) if the big middle description window also changed color to match, and locked on to the scheduled repair/upgrade so you couldn't scroll it to something else unless you cancel the repair/upgrade? Hm maybe not being able to review the other options without canceling would be irritating, I don't know, but I think I could get it set to a description of a non-scheduled option and in retrospect I got confused about that...uh...I don't know 'p'
- that red ground / purple sky stage is definitely still the unattractive one
- still have to use keyboard for race win name entry
- cars are still driving in space below once they go off the big cliff
- the upgrade session after championship win is a little confusing, that could probably be omitted (and hopefully any leftover damage is auto-repaired when take the car to OutRun mode?)
- In OutRun mode, I took the left branch once and it seemed harder (road narrowed, for instance) than when I took the right branches on the next try. Is that right? I thought in usual OutRuns the left branches were the easier option.
Suggestion: don't display the build notes again at start for same version, after they've been shown once
