#294 Buriki One Boss: Silber playthrough.
A playthrough of the boss and hidden character Silber in SNK's Buriki One.
Buriki One is an awesome MMA-style fighting game on the Hyper Neo Geo 64. I remember someone on /vr/ once describing it as "Fight Night before Fight Night", and that's incredibly true of it. Hell, it's better than every Fight Night game except for Fight Night Champion. Buttons actually control the movement of the character, and the joystick controls the attacks they do, and holding both movement buttons together blocks. This creates a system which works surprisingly well, as combos are executed fluidly with the joystick, and special moves are usually done by charging the joystick and the pushing it in the opposite direction, allowing a great ease of use for the player when it comes to countering their opponent.
The sole boss of the game is Silber, a nightmarish, almost demonic fighter who uses "original karate". Despite this being an otherwise grounded and quite realistic fighting game, Silber throws that all away for some good old fashioned SNK boss syndrome fun. His charge Away, Towards move has his fly across the screen to deliver a heavy punch. His f, f, Towards move has him do a lightning quick jump kick, which if it hits the opponent deals tremendous damage against them, and if they block, then Silber is usually sent out of the ring, and so they have no ability to counter him. All his moves seem to hit like a truck, and I swear he deals more damage than other characters, anyhow. And this character, with his near supernatural abilities, is a regular unlockable character. This was, in some ways, the biggest SNK fuck up since making Omega Rugal unlockable in KOF '95. That said, I really shouldn't be complaining about an easily accessible boss. Buriki One is a lot of fun, much more so than Wild Ambition was, but some of the characters (the Aikido guy in particular) are very tedious to playthrough with. As a result, I recommend saving yourself the effort and downloading my NVRAM for this game, with Silber unlocked.
