Thanks for watching the over 130 episodes, here's to towny.
Originally wanted to talk about each part, but my voice is like dead so here’s an essay of text instead
Timestamps and locations:
00:00 - The main area
The starting area of the island, every slimefun machine, and electricity related items are here. It really has been there since the very beginning, with the composter literally being in that location for years. This is probably the most common part of the island you’ll see each episode.
00:27 - Villager stands
This is off camera work, if I remembered correctly. I was experimenting with the villager trading stuff that you will see with vanilla minecraft survival, pretty sure I was trying to get some enchantment book, but obviously, another major use is after the cultivation addon is added, the villagers sell some of the seeds required.
00:38 - Cultivation area
Everything related to the cultivation slimefun addon are in here, the furniture really looks great though, unfortunately I didn’t spend a lot of time combining all the types of plants, but it sure do look interesting
00:52 - Crystals
Another slimefun addon added to skyblock on its later stages, a lot of magic stuff happens here, but only if we gather a ton of crystals, I would say it’s interesting, but the work is so tedious.
01:15 - Tree farm
Another long lasting area of the island. Originally it really was just for wood, and everything is manually done, so I have to chop down trees by myself, but obviously once using the carbon press to turn wood into coal is possible, this became one of the best way to obtain coal, and obviously the farm is now automatic with the woodcutter, this really helped with a lot of episodes since coal is always a required resource.
01:35 - Wind Turbine/Geominer strips
This is the area for mining, and energy production, it is originally just for geomining, since it requires the miner to be moved chunk by chunk, but I decided to not waste the space by adding some wind turbines, each wind turbine produces a bit of energy, and I was planning to make more and more wind turbines so the energy production keep increasing to a point it can sustain more energy consuming machines.
02:05 - Animal farm
This is another place I completely did off camera. It was done because originally all entities would be in one tiny corner and that was causing some huge lag. It is also an area with some redstone with its automatic lights, so that was cool. You can see the old farm area at 02:20, but it was slightly smaller than the new one, so it was an improvement for the animals as well (I think).
02:26 - Wither skeleton spawner
This is the only time in skyfactory/skyblock series that I have used a spawner for a mob farm, 2 million well spent, it is also the last mob farm I have built in this series. The main point is obviously to get wither skeleton skulls, which is used for the wither spawn farm right next to this spawner.
02:50 - normal mob spawner
This is the exact same setup as how it is in the beta release series (anyone remember that?), exact that it’s made out of wood, an additional thing I did was to prevent spider spawns, since they’re just stuck there and wouldn’t come down, and obviously that would block the other mobs from dropping down too. Another thing is that it has 2 layers of area, so more mobs can be spawned.
03:20 - GPS Tower
This is the gps tower, there’s not much to it, but the signal is strong when it’s high up
03:36 - Ore plants
These are ore plants all done off camera, the goal was to have 25 of each type of ore, it certainly isn’t easy though, as the coal plant require coal ore and not just coal, and it was an ore requirement for some of the other plants too, that is one of the reasons why I added an enchanting table, so I can get silk touch to get the ore.
03:52 - Network tunnel
One of the newest addition to the island, the network can contain hundreds of thousands of items, and the tunnel is created so I can have another method of obtaining the item other than the normal interface, it is really useful when you’re trying to take items in bulk. It was always ready for more expansion, and it will probably go to the wind turbines side if it is done.
04:37 - Cactus Farm
Probably the most time I have spent on a single chunk, it goes all the way from the base island height, to the maximum building height of 320, it really generates a lot of cactus, and is a money maker for quite a while.
05:07 - Nether + end
obviously a minecraft world isn’t complete without the other 2 dimensions, we explored the nether as early as episode 19, and the biggest thing is probably the nether (cobble?) generator, glowstone is pretty cool. There’s also the end generator, but the end is never really explored because there just isn’t much there.
