Hello it's me, "hasn't reviewed a shooter since 2019" here, and I'm expanding the language I use to review games by looking at a genre I don't often touch - FPS. Except I cheated: Red Faction began as a shooter that was broadly compared to Half Life. Even if it had revolutionary ideas - GeoMod for one, and expansive gameplay for another - the series eventually veered into third person shooter territory. It's seen linear corridors and open worlds, explosions, gunshots, and hammers. Red Faction kinda owns.

If you're wondering what inspired this video, it's Guerilla. I loved that game, and really, I don't know how you can't. Interactivity gets little downplayed in the interactive medium from time to time, and Guerilla was 1000% interactive. It's the very essence of video games. So looking into Red Faction 1 and its GeoMod, Red Faction 2 and its... relative lack of GeoMod, and Armageddon with the Magnet Gun was a fascinating mechanical exploration. I've heard good things about Volition's other major series Saints Row and the Just Cause games, so maybe on another calendar year when I'm not totally strung up with responsibility.

If you hear the one word I failed to censor, no you didn't. And if you really actually did though, hey thanks, means a lot to me.
