A Super Smash, SideScrolling Hades like? YES! – SpiritFall Demo – #01
Spiritfall is an Indie, Action Roguelike / Roguelite, an Action RPG Side Scroller plus Procedural Generation that feels like a brighter, randomly generated Hollow Knight with Slay The Spire style lvl progression; sounds good right?
The star here is the combat, it starts slow, but picks up fast, throwing more and more enemies at you, with more projectiles and attacks to dodge, but it is tossing powerups to you as well, in the form of your chosen path through the dungeon.
In Spiritfall, you pick your path forward like in Slay The Spire, choosing the Meta Progression, healing or potential kind of power you can gain from each room, as each deity offers different kinds of attacks and abilities for you to use, a bit like Hades; cool!
Attacks that inflict frost, dashes that deal elemental damage and debuff, powerful and impactful stuff here!
The random lvls feel good, providing new areas to administer your monster beatings, and the environments are bright and vibrant, leaving no doubt as to where you are, and what you are doing; Spiritfall isn’t the kind of game to hide what’s happening!
The mentioned Meta Progression is present in the form of Scrolls, Combat Runes and purple rocks, Dormant Embers used to unlock perks and other powerups to help you progress further in your runs.
Gamepad support in Spiritfall is present and feels good, and was my preferred way to play here, as controllers just seem to suit side-scrollers so well.
Note: This is an early demo of Spiritfall so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Also, more weapons are planned for the full game, such as the Bow, the Gauntlets, more abilities, more lvls; more of all the good stuff!
Still, even as a demo, Spiritfall is offering an engaging Action Roguelite Sidescroller with powerful, impactful abilities that look good, and feel good to use, and is easily worth a wishlist, and a watch.
