Abyss Soul Lotus, a fangame 7 years in the making, has finally been released on Steam as a paid title. The first demo of this game was released in 2018, and it has been one hell of a wait since.

This game is not at all blind friendly, but on lower difficulties the generous border system along with low life piece requirements means that with some knowledge and system abuse, you can earn a ton of lives in the earlygame to carry you through the lategame. On Lunatic, however... the piece requirements seem to be far stricter and as such it took me around 7 full attempts before I finally secured this 1cc.

First of all, the TLB requirement is to enter Stage 4 with over 18 minutes left on the clock. This mandates that you perform well enough in the first three stages and use the border system well to get many bullet cancels to stall the timer. I believe I did pretty damn well on this run for that aspect.

If you satisfy that, for the lategame bosses, they each gain one additional spell to their fights. The thumbnail features the Stage 5 bonus spell; but be warned that this does not function like a traditional Last Spell in Touhou, for you can still get hit and die to these spells. Actually... the Stage 4 bonus spell has a very nasty gimmick where if you run into any of the red lines from the lanterns, they link onto you and if you don't kill them in time, a life is removed directly from your stock. One for each linked lantern...

This page covers the game system in decent detail, but I'll add a few extra tips:

1) If you're confident in capping an upcoming spell, perform a Border Release on the prior nonspell, ideally leaving enough time to get a cancel from shooting it down and filling your Border Gauge up to at least 100% for a safety hit. This is crucial to earning extra resources as you need to perform Border Releases to reset the life pieces you can earn once per 100% filled.

2) Use your character switches liberally!!! The gauge at the bottom-right acts as a multiplier for the amount of gauge earned from crystals, so switching characters/shots right before killing large enemies is a good way to quickly fill and max out your gauge. That then allows you to perform extra Border Releases, and more important lets you chain them more easily, which gets you many more life pieces and golden crystals for stalling the timer.

3) If you're going for a TLB clear, it is absolutely essential you learn the Stage 4 and Stage 5 bonus spells. Both are horrific blind killers and I made the mistake of attempting a run before routing the Stage 4 one; I entered that spell with max lives and left with 2. Then gameovered to the final boss.

4) Don't let that timer run out too early! Learn at least parts of the stages so you can farm as many crystals to stall as possible; you lose time from each hit and death, so stalling more gives you even more leniency. The moment that timer runs out, your Border Gauge will start rapidly draining, leaving you completely vulnerable to the very harsh patterns and likely chewing through your remaining stock of lives.
