Advent Rising was touted to be a Halo killer - a game that would usurp Master Chief and create a whole new tier of cinematic gaming in the process. It was wildly ambitious and even more wildly hyped, but Advent Rising did not kill Halo. In fact, it was such a misfire both its developer and publisher were left shells of their former selves after Advent Rising’s release. I thought I’d have a look and tell a bit of a story about the Mass Effect-like trilogy that never was, and how Halo wasn’t killed at all.
