Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is the fourth game in the Ace Attorney series. It represents several firsts for the series, being the first to be released on the Nintendo DS other than the ports of the original Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy. It is also the first full Ace Attorney game for which Kazuya Nuri contributed original art assets, having previously done so for the bonus episode Rise from the Ashes of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Additionally, the game is a sort of reboot for the series, featuring a new protagonist named Apollo Justice and only retaining seven characters from the original trilogy. Even mainstay characters like Maya Fey and Miles Edgeworth, who are major characters in all three games in the original trilogy, scarcely earn even a mention.
