Beating Fester's Quest (NES) no deaths, My Perfect Playthrough (1/13/2023)
Never played this as a kid so my first experience with it started earlier this week. After seeing it in an AVGN episode and listed on Wikipedia's list of Nintendo Hard games I was expecting it to be more of a challenge. I suppose it would have been had I not used a turbo controller, but the instruction manual actually recommends doing so. Besides, I'm trying to have fun here, not get carpal tunnel. The most frustrating thing about the game is that it sends you back to the very beginning when you die. If you power up your gun and whip to the max as soon as possible, it's pretty easy to avoid getting killed. Then you just have to worry about the bosses. They all have fairly simple patterns making it easy to avoid their hits. The challenging part is figuring out when you can hit them back. I spent a lot of time on that shield guy before figuring out I could hit him in a sweet spot while his shield was still up.
