Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing - The RETROspective
Few games are as iconic or infamous as Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. The truck racing game is most infamous for being a glitchy mess that earned some of the lowest review scores of all-time.
Some seventeen years removed from the game's release, I come back to look back at the legacy of Big Rigs. Sure, the reviews were bad back then but how would those reviews change given how gaming has evolved over the last decade-plus? How did it release in a state that caused Gamespot to effectively admit their review system was broken? Did the patch fix anything? And is the game redeemable because of its contributions to society and science?
