I was lucky to have the original Myst be my first experience with puzzle gaming, and it gave me a love for the genre that's only grown over the years. Plenty of titles tried to copy Myst's success, but few managed it. Obsidian is one of those few! With a wide variety of challenges ranging from the deceptively obvious to the fiendishly complicated, Obsidian had a massive budget and a prolific advertising campaign, only to somehow commercially fall flat on release. Despite its lukewarm reception, the game has remained a cult favorite among puzzle adventure fans, and I'm thankful to have y'all with me as I tackle its mysteries and unravel a psychological journey through the meaning and value of intelligent life.
