Oh, the tragedy! It moves me to the depths of my soul!

Quest: Theater Help Wanted!

I wasn't going to record this quest originally, but I figured the last fight was tough enough and unique enough to warrant it.

This sidequest is basically a gauntlet of three battles. You're fully healed in between each fight, and if you lose to any of them you won't get a game over. However, any items you use here will stay consumed. This quest can be done as soon as Chapter 3 starts. I took it on after Chapter 3, and as such the enemies here have an extra point of defense courtesy of Hardest difficulty.

Round 1 puts you up against an Acornling and a Numbnail, two regular enemies from Chapter 2. As you probably know how to deal with them by now I'm not giving their stats or attacks. A couple skills or even normal attacks will probably be enough to deal with them with how low their health is. Try to avoid using an item here if you can help it.

Round 2 puts you up against a Bandit and a Thief. The Thief I covered in the Bandit Ambush video, but this might be the first time you've seen a Bandit. Here's what to expect from him:

HP: 13
Defense: 1 (2 if post Chapter 3)

Attacks:
-Tackle (Deals 5 damage to a single party member; steals an item if not blocked)
-Shuriken (Deals 5 damage to a single party member)
-Flee (Escapes the battle; only used after stealing an item)

I recommend taking out the Thief first as he has an AoE. Tornado/Hurricane Toss is the best way of doing that, maybe helped along by Heavy Strike once he's grounded. The Bandit's not too threatening by himself; Taunt can draw his attacks away from Vi and Leif as they whittle down his health, or you can freeze him with Frigid Coffin and follow that up with Heavy Strike.

Try to keep holding onto those items, but if you really need one feel free to use it.

After that, it's time for Round 3:

Evil Prince
HP: 34
Defense: 1 (2 if post Chapter 3)

Attacks:
-Tackle (5 damage to all party members; steals an item if not blocked)
-Rock Throw (6 damage to a single party member)
-Flee (Escape the battle; used after stealing an item)
-Summon (Summons a Thief or a Bandit; used only when alone)

The Evil Prince is the same as the Burglar in the bandit ambush (and is even called a Burglar by the game itself), but with double the HP and with the ability to summon allies. His health's too high for you to be able to beat him without him calling for help at this point, but Frigid Coffin can delay that for a turn or two on top of still being useful after that. Immediately kill any thieves he summons, but bandits can be saved until after he's dealt with.

Now's the time to use those items you've been saving, if you feel the need. If you have a way to boost your attack use it. I recommend Vi's Hurricane Toss as your main damage source to help get around the Prince's defense and any backup he summons. The Prince's AoE makes Taunt less helpful, but it's still good for controlling damage if Kabbu doesn't have anything better he can do.

Your reward is 30 berries and the ability to repeat the quest for more berries. I don't suggest grinding here; you'll probably spend more berries replacing the items you used than you earned. But it is a good way to check to see if you're ready for Chapter 3 or not; beat it, and you're golden. If you saved it for after Chapter 3, then you'll probably be fine.

Bug Fables is a 2019 turn-based RPG created by Moonsprout Games and published by DANGEN Entertainment. It is heavily inspired by the original two Paper Mario games (Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year door) and can be seen as a spiritual successor to them, although it has plenty of quirks of its own.

Check it out here!: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1082710/Bug_Fables_The_Everlasting_Sapling/

This playthrough was done on Hardest Mode. This isn't quite the same thing as using the Hard Mode medal, although that's part of it. HARDEST is one of the menu codes uncovered by doing certain things in the game, which serve as mutators when entered into the naming screen when creating a new file.

From the Bug Fables wiki (https://bugfables.fandom.com/wiki/Menu_Codes):
-The game is permanently in Hard Mode.
-Wearing the Hard Mode medal turns Team Snakemouth into Pibu.
-All enemies have 15% more HP and deal 1 more damage.
-After defeating Chapter 2's boss: all enemies deal 1 more damage.
-After starting Chapter 4: all enemies have 1 more defense.
-Members of a certain lategame optional boss team have 1 additional point of damage and defense.

Many thanks to the Bug Fables Discord for helping me make sure the information here is accurate.
