AMD's cheapest 7 series R7 1700 Ryzen CPU costs $329 and offers fantastic price to performance in terms of heavy CPU based computing, but if all you want is gaming, is it worth opting for something a little older instead, especially if you want to opt for a reasonably priced system?

Today, thanks to the help of a friend who's recently upgraded, we'll be taking a look at some benchmark results from an older i5 3570k overclocked system and comparing them to that of the R7 1700.
