Also known as Castlevania: The New Generation.
To me, this is the perfect example of a single mechanic ruining an otherwise good game. Limited continues have NO place in Castlevania. It wasn't the case for the NES trilogy, it wasn't the case for the SNES games, and for what I know it never happened again in any of the following Castlevania games.
