CiB Let's Try: Def Jam Fight For NY (PS2)
(BEN IS BACK!!! BEN!!! IS BACK!!! AT LPS!!!!)
Def Jam: Fight For NY was released on September 21, 2004 for the PS2, GameCube, and Xbox. This is the PS2 version. It is the sequel to Def Jam Vandetta.
It was developed by AKI Corporation, which developed some of the most beloved WWF/wrestling games of all-time, including WWF No Mercy for the N64. It was published by EA Games, which used to be fun.
So let's get a few quick things out of the way: 1) This game is very expensive nowadays, 2) None of us in the room are the target demographic for this game.
Our initial reaction to the gameplay was a little harsh, as we did start on a pretty lame stage, but after playing it a bit more and seeing the care and attention to detail put into the gameplay and story, I can definitely understand why people respect this game so much. Unfortunately, a lot of the bigger characters that we may know (Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, etc) must be unlocked, so for this short video, we will not be seeing any of them.
It's a shame that Def Jam: Fight For NY won't get remade or ported (it's pretty obvious that the legal problems alone would be nuts), because it is a really solid game. If PS2 emulation ever gets better, this is definitely one to check out - thanks for watching!
