Released 03/04/1986, Circus Charlie for Famicom is a solid port of Konami's arcade classic by Soft Pro International. The arcade flyer hailed this to be the first authentic circus game when it was originally released in 1984. You play as the titular Charlie, a clown who must perform various routines for a crowd at a circus. Directing lions jumping through hoops of fire, tightrope walking with monkeys, and trick horseback riding are just a few of the spectacles on display.

This game has the same look and feel of Konami's Track and Field series for the NES, so it's a mystery to me why it never made it overseas. If I had to guess it would be the fear that kids would imitate the hoops of fire and lion stage with their household pets. It might have just been because the game is a bit short and repetitive however. While not a terrible game, I can't say Circus Charlie is a must-own for Famicom collectors.

I am considering a playthrough to be beating the Hi Score. I played on an original NES with a Game Genie adapter (see Shorts) to allow for playing a Famicom cartridge. I am using a NES Advantage controller, RCA cables, and a Sharp X-Flat 27" CRT TV.
