0The 2008 action-adventure game Saints Row 2 was created by Volition and released by THQ. It is the second game in the Saints Row series and the follow-up to Saints Row from 2006. October 2008 saw the introduction of a mobile tie-in game created by G5 Entertainment. Saints Row 2 picks up right where the first game left off, with the player's custom character waking up from a five-year coma to discover that their gang, the 3rd Street Saints, has broken up and that newly formed criminal syndicates and a corrupt corporation have taken over their former territories. Rebuilding the Saints and reclaiming Stilwater from their competitors is the player's goal, with the aid of both new and old friends.
"Respect" points, which are obtained by finishing minigames and side activities, are exchanged for story missions. Players can explore Stilwater, which has been enlarged with additional areas and comprises two main islands, outside of the main plot. The game's world can be explored on foot or by car, and it is played from a third-person viewpoint. In addition to calling in non-playable gang members for assistance, players can use a range of guns to combat adversaries. Two players can explore Stilwater together while performing tasks and activities in the online multiplayer mode, or more people can participate in a range of cooperative and competitive game types.
