Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules:
1. You can only catch the first Pokémon you find on every route
2. If a Pokémon faints, it is considered dead, and must be boxed/released, you can no longer use it.
3. All Pokémon must be nicknamed
4. A white out/black out is considered a loss, even if Pokémon are still present in the PC.
5. Battles are always in "Set" mode.
6. No items in battle other than hold items and PokéBalls.
7. The player may not level any of their Pokémon past the level of the next “boss trainer’s” highest leveled Pokémon. “Boss trainers” can include Gym Leaders, Kahunas, Trial Captains, and, when entering the Pokémon League, the final Elite Four member. Any Pokémon who exceed the level cap must be boxed, and cannot be used until they are under the level cap. Exceeding the level cap during the battle is allowed, you must simply enter the battle with no Pokémon over the level cap.
