Creativerse is a block-based sandbox game developed by Playful Corp., the creators of Lucky's Tale. Creativerse has officially left Early Access today, and available at Steam.
Creativerse belongs to the genre of 3D-block-based games (like Minecraft) that was initially started by Zach(tronic)'s game Infiniminer.
In this sandbox game players are not inclined to reach any preset goals, however players will usually mainly progress through the game by unlocking crafting recipes one after another half-linear.
All Creativerse worlds are multiplayer-worlds with a slight touch of Science Fiction that can also be used solo and protected with passwords by their owners. Still all game worlds are housed on Playful Corp.'s servers and can only be accessed online. Creativerse worlds are are not procedurally generated, instead they are currently based on template worlds in the size of 10,240 long by 10,240 blocks wide and 256 in height each.
All game worlds feature the same different looking Biomes as well as underground Layers, each of which provides diverse kinds of materials like Ores and scoopable Liquids, biome-specific Creatures and sometimes specific environmental challenges like freezing cold, burning heat or poisonous Corruption.
Power Cells as the one convinient tool for mining and harvesting (except for Ores that are won from Nodes with the help of single-use Extractors) enable players to dig deeper through the different strata made of increasingly harder rocks to collect rarer and better resources. All areas except for bodies of Water (and other liquids) are populated with unique Creatures, some aggressive, some peaceful, all of which can be hunted or alternatively tamed to become livestock to harvest from.
Crafting is a main feature of Creativerse. Other than Armor and Weapons of increasing quality, players can craft an unlimited number of Teleporters to get around quickly, can place crafting stations as well as storage items of different sizes, can grow Crops, cook dozens of Food types and brew consumables like Potions, can craft and then throw Explosives with various effects that will occasionally even change the environment, can build "railways" or even "rollercoasters" from Ice Slopes together with Fans and much more.
Adventurers won't be afraid of visiting the many large Caves populated with dangerous underground creatures and roaming the world at night when aggressive night creatures will appear in the dark. The most menacing creatures can be found on the deepest layer, the Corruption layer. While extremely tough creatures (called "Things") can be fought or tamed to receive special recipes and high quality items, there are also creatures (called "Rockzillas") that are to be "summoned" by building arenas from a specific number of certain materials.
Explorers can aim to uncover the large Maps that consist of 676 areas each throughout which they can hunt for valuable findings like randomly spawning Treasure Chests with rare crafting recipes or uncommon Creatures like Golden Keepas. When defeated, player characters will "drop" urns with some of their stuff (depending on combat difficulty settings) that they can always retrieve, led there by an indicator on their compass and a beacon.
Builders can choose from a large variety of natural blocks that the game-worlds are made of (including liquids), as well as a wide range of crafted Building Blocks, including Slopes, Slabs (half the size of blocks), Furniture, Windows, Fences and "electric" devices such as Switches, Pressure Plates, Number Pads or Sensors that will allow to lock/open doors, switch on lights, spawn creatures, make blocks appear etc. from a distance. Areas can be claimed and protected by their owners with different settings.
As Creatures and Treasure Chests spawn on specific types of natural blocks, players can build artificial biomes anywhere to obtain rare materials and crafting recipes faster. Several Blueprints of preset buildings are available for free to help with building large structures (especially together with friends) that can be customized. Block kits containing all the suggested standard blocks of specific Blueprints can be bought in the Store to save time, however these blocks kits can also be used for free building.
