When considering the reception for a game, try to see it from multiple angles. Don't just rely on a single source, unless you know that they're honest and their reviews and recommendations are usually inline with your preferences. If you see a game with low user score, don't immediately dismiss it either. For example, Modern Warfare 3 may have an user of 3/10 based on thousands of ratings, but that doesn't mean it's going to suck - the campaign and spec ops are actually very good. Take into account THE CRITERIA for a reviewer's judgement on a game, and don't trust the score. Everyone has their own idea of what constitutes a 7/10 for example.

It would be great to see professional critics addressing major concerns about the games they review more specifically rather than assessing the structural integrity of its game engine. Oftentimes, and especially for games like Hitman Absolution and DmC Devil May Cry, the user scores often give a better insight into what long-time fans of the series' actually care about.
