A Cyberpunk game that’s the exact opposite of Cyberpunk 2077, elves, dwarves, orcs and trolls hacking computers and fighting corporations in the year 2057, and a mystery… that is very, very mysteriousreturning series of the long running classic franchise of Shadowrun.

Even if you are familiar with Shadowrun from back in the days of the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis, if you are anything like me… mixed reviews and average footage for all of the three games of this returning franchise, have probably kept you from giving this one a shot in favor of more the more popular and more visually striking options in the rpg genre like Divinity Original Sin II or Pillars of Eternity.

But is Shadowrun Hong Kong truly the apex game in the trilogy, that elevates the franchise to the pantheon of modern day RPGs?… is it is snore fezt of bloated storytelling rolled into a wrapping of poorly designed mechanics and generic combat?… or… is the truth… as it is often the case… somewhere in between?
