14In this part, we begin the game as Captain Olimar and learn that he sent out a distress beacon which caused the Rescue Corps. to be dispatched to rescue him. Upon being dispatched, the Rescue Corps. also crash lands, and we are dispatched to rescue them as well as Captain Olimar.

- Oatchi is a Rescue Pup and a member of the Rescue Corps. As we begin the game without any Pikmin, we learn to have him charge cracked jars to shatter them and clear passages. Oatchi has his own health bar alongside our own and he can be knocked out if he receives too much damage, just like us.
- Along the way we rescue Collin and Shepard, the Comms Operator and Captain of the Rescue Corps. respectfully. We then arrive at the S.S. Shepherd which is out of commission and are tasked with collecting Sparklium to power it back up. Sparklium is a power source located inside the various treasures scattered across the planet. This makes collecting Treasures a top priority, alongside rescuing the other members of the Rescue Corps. and Captain Olimar.
- While collecting Treasures to gather Sparklium, we encounter the Red Onion, and by extension, Red Pikmin for the first time. Red Pikmin are, as usual, immune to Fire and the strongest Pikmin in terms of Combat.
