Death Game 97 - Absoludia the Blade Dragon (No Invincibility / No Damage) - SAO: Re: Hollow Fragment
What? A Hollow Fragment video? AND it was recently recorded like 2 days ago and NOT a clip that I've had on my laptop for ages!? This is madness!!!
Actually I went on Hollow Fragment to test something. This wasn't supposed to be a Death Game video, nor was it meant to be a "no damage" run or "no invincibility", which is why I appear to be kinda screwing around for most of the fight... because I was.
I was doing it to test out the potential damage of Bleed with Cursed Prey and Miserable Heart, and Absoludia was a pretty simple target to test it on. I didn't use any invincibility buffs because I wanted to make sure I didn't accidentally get rid of any of my attack speed or accuracy buffs by adding more buffs.
Although, I kinda rendered that pointless with the Exact Sidestep Crit buff and Exact Backstep Atk buff, I now realize...
I also went with Saintblade: Ragnarok as my other weapon because it offered me a hefty amount of accuracy to make sure I hit the damn thing. When it became apparent that - even with Cursed Prey and Miserable Heart - Bleed damage was just terrible, I decided to finish the fight, and it tuned out to be a perfect recording for a "No Invincibility / No Damage" fight because I hadn't done one against Absoludia yet.
It was also considerably harder since it's been a while since I played and this time none of the weapons I used had Poison on them. Poison is a GODSEND for doing no damage runs because inflicting Poison resets the enemy's animation, which will cancel them out of any attack, and inflicting Poison during a sword skill will instantly stagger the enemy and catch them in hitstun for the duration of your sword skill or OSS chain (provided there's no significant gap between any of the hits for the enemy to get out of hitstun.
You can see the hitstun I'm talking about during the final chain I did. It wasn't caused by Poison, but Weapon Bash creates the same stagger, and if you immediately chain into fast-hitting skills, you can keep up the stagger animation as long as you hit fast enough. The skills that do this are Raucous Hexedra (if you chain off of the 1st shine), Myriad of Spikes, Spinning Totality, Infernal Rage (either shine), Radial Shine (either shine), Nightmare Rain (either shine), and Black Howling Assault (either shine).
It might be possible with Deep Impact as well, or at least from the 1st shine, but I didn't wanna risk trying it.
Life would be so much easier if I changed my recorded OSS chain to the one I did here, but I like Dead End, Raucous Hexedra, Crimson Splash, Myriad of Spikes, Spinning Totality, and Nebular Empress :P I'm an old far who doesn't like change.
I may have also used Eclipse to avoid damage from Absoludia's first Shining Avalanche, but that's not invincibility. They're i-FRAMES, and even then they're not true invincibility. Invincibility is marked by buffs that cause attacks on you to auto "MISS". But while you are practically invulnerable during Special/Arcane skills, you are still being hit. It's just that, for the most part, you will not take any damage. You will, however, still receive debuffs from attacks that inflict them, so it's not at all invincibility. Bleed debuffs will still cause damage and void that claim out. Also, if an attack causes a Stun or Poison debuff, it will both cancel your Special/Arcane skill and damage you from the attack. And considering these sword skills have short duration and long cooldown, there's strategy required to safely avoid damage with them. It also takes knowing what attacks don't cause debuffs, so you can safely "i"-frame them.
