I got pretty good luck in this run, and was able to complete it in 16 races. The Adversary race was extremely stressful and I still can't believe I won. I did a really good job of killing the other racers in this run, which is extremely important in cutting my time down, especially with how many long tracks I was dealt. I even killed everyone twice as Vagabond on Desert Run/Snake Alley, which are the longest tracks in the game. The start was sloppy, but the biggest flaw in this run was the second-place finish I got around the 13-minute mark. I could've gotten to The Adversary a race sooner if that didn't happen, though I may've had to race him with one fewer engine upgrade.

The general strategy is to get first place in the Medium races until you can buy a Shrieker, and then start killing every car in every Hard race. Always buy Sabotage/Mines; don't bother with spikes and never buy Rocket Fuel because it damages you. Don't buy the Deliverator until you have boo-koo bucks, because repair costs and Underground Market costs increase tenfold once you do. Select Duke Nukem but don't name him "Duke Nukem": If you don't pick him, you'll be against him and he'll have impossibly-good armor, and if you use both his portrait and name you'll get that armor bonus, which I'm not sure is fair for a speedrun. Finally, hope you get good RNG: Hope for shorter tracks, and hope the Deliverators don't race and get more points. You can't stop the Deliverators until you get the Shrieker, but once you move to Hard it's a higher priority to kill the Deliverators than to actually win the race.

This is a really fun game and everyone should play it. It's on Steam now, but Apogee/3DRealms used to be giving it away for free; there might still be a legitimate download link floating around on their forums if you do a web search (It's worth buying, though). Do not play the remake -- it's heavily "modernized" and not nearly as satisfying to play -- and do not play the game without weapons on.
