Devil May Cry 2! Trish Playthrough, Dante Must Die Difficulty - PS2
The day has finally arrived where I get to play Devil May Cry 2 for the first time. I've never set my eyes on gameplay before but have heard nothing but terrible things lol. The story randomly takes place years after the original, where old Dante meets up with Lucia, a fellow devil hunter. He agrees, at the flip of a coin, to help stop an evil businessman named Arius on an ancient island. Dante barely speaks at all, and the EDGE level has been cranked to the extreme. All the jokes you hear about this game being a shooter are mostly true. Monsters will literally be stunned and float in the air from gunshots, and the boss fights leave very few openings for melee. It's almost as if they wanted players to just keep shooting. The style system is a mess; you have almost zero time before you lose your rating unless you spam roll for some reason. This game has a lot of flaws, but I still enjoyed it with a lot of laughter. It wasn't a buggy mess or anything; you can tell the arcade division team from Capcom had a lot to learn moving to console development. It isn't all bad, though; the post-game content is pretty cool, and I like the idea of having multiple characters. There's actually a lot of ideas from this game that carried over to future titles, including Marvel VS Capcom 3. You can play as Trish when you unlock everything, and man, she's so fun. You basically have the original DMC1 move list with a very powerful Devil Trigger, also this was the main template for her design in MVC3. You can play her on both discs, so we did every mission on a single playthrough.
