Devolver just up and did it. The absolute madmen:
They made their own digital game expo, turned it into an FPS experience and made it available for free on Steam.

There are fun hidden secrets hidden in the experience as well as trailers and other material for their upcoming game. All in all, this was a wonderful marketing tool and I really hope other publishers will follow suit.
