DFFOO [JP][Spiritus Bahamut] Serah BT: Neesan pls help, I have green numbers!
36Quite happy with the 3 earned multi-ticket + basic free multi. That alone saved 20K, and I didn't need to pity.
Pretty much the first time I see the Shinryu synergy FG boost after the change. The party can clear all Spiritus missions barring 2 (IX and spear user (Freya)). It can easily be done with her in place of Minwu, but Minwu is kind of fun in this one, so I used him instead.
With synergy boost, entering FR before them is quite doable so they dropped quickly. I thought about swapping the generic soundtrack out, but given how fast I entered BT, that seemed rather pointless, so I left it as is. Also apologies for random hiccups that came out of nowhere.
Boss: Bulky Knuckle x2 (yes, I didn't make it up)
FG:
+3%: Player/enemy action
0%: BRV gain after action
30%: BRV poison at the start of player turn
FA: Cyclone Knuckle+ (or ++) (not BRV/HP attack)
Removes all player's BRV to 0 (can be dodged)
If enemy has less than or equal to 4 debuffs, they use the ++version with these additional effects:
- BRV gain from the BRV that is removed from players, then HP attack
- inflict HP dmg down on all player characters
FT: 6T
100% BRV dmg reduction on all bosses
Weakness: (cancel FT)
FA that deals magic BRV dmg and batteries all party members
Normal Behaviour and Thresholds:
They generally cycle through 2 moves:
Split Shot+: (BRV)
- inflicts ATK down
Heavy Clap: (AOE BRV+HP)
- inflict DEF down and mBRV down
- (-2T) debuff duration on itself
This fight is quite threshold heavy like other spiritus:
A. Berserk (+)
+version is used for the 2nd time. The aura restrictions correspond to the number of debuffs (if less than) on the bosses. (think transcendence 6)
Anything after | denotes the values or new effects for the +version.
90-70%: Berserk; 30-0%: Berserk+
1 - 150 | 200% HP dmg reduction
2 - 200 | 300% mBRV down
3 - HP heal before boss action | cannot be defeated
5 | 4 - ATK/DEF/SPD up on bosses
5 (+ver) - Cannot be delayed by breaks and ignore turn deletion
At 69%, the first Berserk aura is cancelled when you are praised by Spiritus.
B. Bulky Shield+
70/40%: -1T debuff duration on self and gain a HP shield
C. No action delay
70/50/30/20%: -1T debuff duration, have 1T that has no action delay
Note:
1. The boss would do both A/B during BT phase, so you would still get a debuff duration reduction during BT phase. triggering Minwu traps.
2. The boss holds on to all of the threshold triggers of C and release them in one go after a BT phase (I presume summon phase as well). They will only die after they get hit once more following the releases of all C triggers and above 3 debuffs.
In this case Minwu traps after BT phase killed them elegantly.
General Strat:
The big thing to look out for is they have multiple ways of reducing debuff durations, both on and off-turn. If you want to use an off-turn strat, it would be nice to have Auron/Gladio, who inflict debuffs on counters. Characters with paralysis like Fusoya or Agrias can stop them from doing heavy clap, which reduces 2T worth of duration.
In regards to this, no action delay and BRV gain, Ashe with her BT and EX would not be a bad choice to cull the BRV gain threat and killing your debuffs rq with a lot of heavy claps.
I opted for dumping all FR(e) at the start for a quick % boost mostly because Minwu traps get activated a lot when they reach 70% and start killing debuffs durations. I would advise hitting one through the threshold first so that the duration would refresh on the higher HP one, preserving it for later thresholds during BT and the final kill.
Serah:
Serah's BT follow-up consists of 3 dumps that is 100% of her mBRV cap. It is actually quite straight forward. It does not have BRV dmg but it will always hit cap.
With her BT and HA+3, Serah actually gives a whooping (30+15) 45% HP dmg cap up for the entire party, which is one of the highest barring any FR.
With the most ideal conditions (iirc), with WoL (FR) (85%), Ramza (51%) and Serah (45%), the party can get up to 181% cap up, which is very disgusting without even factoring in UW.
She is does require some tuning. Her BT comes in 3 stacks. Every time she inflicts a debuff, it gets increased by 1. Her FR does not inflict a debuff, so I used a Setzer sphere for it to inflict a SPD down debuff (less common than DEF down). After two FR use you can comfortably go into BT with full stacks with more than 7T left, so the stacks carry over post-BT (if they are not dead).
Her FR/BT gives you a multitude of BRV refunds. Also her base HA is a BRV gain type, so Cecil sphere works well. Combining these factors, you can use her with launches without Selphie and still get all of your BRV back. With all these sources of BRV she also sort of counteracts the 30% BRV refund/gain cap really well.
Now that her Ex has the highest dmg, Enna Kros LDCA/Bahamut summon would also be excellent choices for her, fittingly so.
Lastly, her BT involves Lightning, so it is awesome by default :)
