This is not a new video but from somewhere around early 2020 when my driving license was suspended due to health issues. I always wanted a simple FFB steering wheel. I used to have a simple wheel around turnaround 2000s or so to play F1 and the first two Colin McRae Rally games that was given to a friend ages ago so I used gamepads for racing during the last 15+ years.

When the doc said that my license is suspended due to my condition I was not sure that I'll get it back. So, after parking my Mitsubishi Colt CZT that I love, I had 10 seconds of lethargy. Then, immediately I purchased a Thrustmaster T150 wheel online. The situation was a nice excuse to start sim racing I guess. This video was shot shortly after unboxing this FFB wheel. Definitely a slow run with an ample of slides (fun), just a little playing around with the wheel after a decade of game controller rallying. It was funny to realise how real life driving experience and game controller racing combined. Even this entry level FFB wheel gave great feedback of where the limits are.

Since that an ample of things happened. Thing one, I got my driving license back after 7 months (health improved). Thing two, I got into sim racing. I am old and I was never too fast but the fun it provides to this day is very hard to describe. Maybe I'll shoot a video about it or make a review about my long-term experiences of the T150 wheel.

This actual DiRT Rally video footage is a real footage technically as it was shot with an external Zoom camera aimed at a 1280x1024 4:3 Siemens monitor. A secondary goal was to provide a trashy '80s TV cam feel. The test machine was a pretty slow PC (a Phenom X2 or X3 as far as far as I can remember) with a GT730 GPU, where playing and recording on the same PC was just impossible. Still, it provided a respectable performance even on mid settings I think.
