Final Verdict - 8/10

The good - New combat system works great for consoles. Better graphics than Origins with a new art direction. All 3 classes have there uses and offer tons of replay value. Plenty of side quest. Shorter than Origins but will still run you about 50+ hours if you do side quest and what not. Ideas from Mass Effect 2 make there way to Dragon Age II and work very well for talking scenarios. Main character, Hawke, talks and has quite a good voice actor, giving the player a stronger connection with the game. All playable characters have there own unique abilities regardless of class, making everyone worth trying. Combat is smooth and exciting, playing like Dynasty Warriors and other hack n slash titles. Level up tree has been simplified and is easier to understand, helping players make the best possible characters without having much knowledge of general RPG terms.

The bad - Story pales in comparison to Origins. Lack of different dungeons results in you seeing the same areas over...and over.

The need to know - When you die, no longer will you have over the top penalties like in Origins. You simply have a health penalty. You no longer have to maintain your parties armor. The only armor (Body, Head, Hands, Feet) you will monitor will be for Hawke. Any armor you find or loot that isn't meant for Hawke can be sold for gold. Your allies armor levels up on it's own as they level up. This is a cosmetic stunt to give every character a unique appearance, unlike in Origins where everyone wore similar armor. This keeps everyone looking sexy! You can upgrade your allies armor though, through runes and finding/buying small upgrades specifically for every character as the years progress. Sub armor such as rings, belts, and necklaces can be changed for everyone. Crafting is simplified. When you find the ingredients to make any item, you can make an unlimited amount for that item. Example. A potion requires 1 Lyrium. Once you find this 1 Lyrium, you can make unlimited potions as long as you have gold. This is also the same concept for Runes. Happy crafting!! Every class uses specific weapons. Warriors use Great Swords, Great Axes, One Handed Swords, and Shields. Rogues can use Dual Daggers and Bows. Mages of course use a staff. ONLY Rogues and pick locks and disarm traps, so always have one in your party. Simple locks require 10 cunning, Standard locks require 20 cunning, Complex locks require 30 cunning, and Master locks require 40 cunning.

**General Dragon Game Terms**

Attack: In the world of Dragon Age, the term "attack" defines accuracy and how often your attacks deal the maximum damage of the weapon currently being used.

Defense: In the world of Dragon Age, the term "defense" determines evasion. Rogues need high defense to be efficient in combat as they play the roles of distractions or mini tanks.

Damage: Damage defines the overall damage output of your weapon.

Strength - Strength is the Warriors main attribute, next to Constitution (Health). Strength for all classes increases Fortitude, which determines the characters ability to withstand heavy blows and lowers the recovery times from being stunning. Strength for Warriors increase there over all DAMAGE OUTPUT.

Dexterity - Dexterity is the Rogues main attribute, next to Cunning. Dexterity for all classes increases Critical Attack Rate (DO NOT BOTHER WITH DEXTERITY WHEN PLAYING AS A WARRIOR OR MAGE), but for Rogues, it also increases over all DAMAGE OUTPUT.
