"Dueling Banjos was written by Arthur Smith in 1954 and was used without his permission in the 1972 movie Deliverance, arranged by Eric Weissberg and Steve Mandell. When the single from the movie soundtrack went to #2 on the Billboard Top 100, Smith sued because the songwriting credit on the record was only Weissberg. He won the case and was given songwriting credit and back royalties."
