Welcome back to Episode 4 of our Gameplay guide for Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age. Today we're going to be using the Dustia Farming trick, to gain some quick early levels to breeze through the next story portions of the game.

See the full write up on our site: https://30somethinggaming.com/dustia-farming-final-fantasy-xii-the-zodiac-age/

Dustia is an undead type enemy that appears in between the 2 areas called Galeta Downs and the Corridor of Sand. Undead type enemies can be defeated using healing items, they have the opposite effect on the undead. Knowing this we can use the Phoenix Down items, which usually revive characters, to instead kill Dustia. In order to make this farming worth your time, you'll need at least 20 Phoenix Downs. The start of the video shows a chest you can continually respawn, which has a high chance of containing a tuft of Phoenix Down. Get to the nearby village to respawn the chest and keep repeating this circuit until you have at least 20 Phoenix Downs.

Once you have enough Phoenix Downs, head over to where Dustia spawns. It will only spawn if your character is below 10% hp, so once your close by and have cleared the nearby enemies, unequip your weapon and attack yourself. Do this until Vaan's hp is low enough to spawn Dustia.

Once your hp is low enough head through the screen transition and trigger Dustia to spawn. You want to change your battle options to "WAIT" so that while you select an item, Dustia won't be able to attack you. It can take a good couple of seconds after Dustia appears for it to be a selectable enemy, so keep this in mind. As you can see in the video you can continue to try to select Dustia with an item until it finally becomes selectable. You should still fire off the Phoenix Down before Dustia casts its spell and kills you.

Once you hit it with the Phoenix Down, you need to exit the area before the exp appears on the screen. Doing this makes it possible for us to bypass the usual 2 screens away reset most enemies require. Then simply head back through the screen transition and repeat the process till your 20 Phoenix Downs are all used up.

Do this prior to getting Penelo, as she would divide the experience between two characters, making this less efficient. Once we start to add more characters to our roster they are all based on Vaan's level so boosting it here not only powers up Vaan, but also all our future party members.
