Extermination ist nicht nur "ein" Survival-Horror-Spiel, sondern vermutlich das allererste Survival-Horror-Spiel, das im Jahr 2001 von Deep Space entwickelt und von Sony Computer Entertainment für die PS2 veröffentlicht wurde.

Da es sich bei dem Titel um ein Second-Party-Spiel handelte und sehr früh im Lebenszyklus des Systems herauskam, sollte es als Vorzeigeding für die brandneue Konsole aus dem Hause Sony dienen und konnte vor dem Release auch schon einen großen Hype erzeugen, ging dann aber nach dem Release etwas unter.

Schade, denn einige Gameplay Mechaniken konnte es sich eigentlich sehr gut aus der Masse der ewigen Resident Evil Kopien hervorstechen...
