Far Cry Primal takes place in the early Mesolithic period,[17] approximately 12,000 years ago in Central Europe, in the fictional location of Oros, a valley teeming with wild animals such as mammoths and saber-toothed tigers. Survival is a daily challenge, with conflicts between human tribes and with nature.[6]
Players control Takkar (Elias Toufexis) of the Wenja tribe,[18][19] a hunter who was stranded on Oros with no weapons or resources and the only survivor of his group who was attacked in an ambush while hunting.[9] With his power of wild domestic animals,[12][13] Takkara will eventually become the alpha predator and rise to leader of a tribe.[10]
