On March 2nd 2020, the same day the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo was released on the PS4 PlayStation Network, gaming news outlet, VG24/7, released an article for an interview they had with the game's co-direct, Naoki Hamaguchi. As part of it, Hamaguchi revealed information regarding Red XIII’s status as a non-playable guest character for Part 1 and why the development team chose to not make him a controllable party member until Part 2.
