4Where’s Kuja been this whole time? The last story beat of Disc 3 doesn’t pay off as well as the other two for me. There were hints in Oeilvert about what the story was going to be about, but after hearing it straight from the old man himself, it seems convoluted and confusing to understand.
When it was all about nations being manipulated to fight each other, the smaller scale allowed us to approach each characters’ arc in believable terms. There were plenty of relatable lessons in finding your identity. This last arc? It’s like it was pulled from an unrelated story and pasted on to what was an otherwise fine tale about making your own family when you had none. It’s a bizarre bit of writing for sure.
