Last time, we finally took the fight to Kefka's doorstep and started the arduous and cooperative task of climbing Kefka's Tower! We got slammed with boss after boss: Inferno, Ultima Buster, Skull Dragon, Gold Dragon, Guardian and the three Warring Triads themselves. Even though the triad has been destroyed, magic still exists. What does this mean? Let's jump right in...

CHAPTER 27 - FINAL BATTLE & ENDING

Whoa boy! The stakes don't get any bigger than this. Here we are: the final boss, in the final Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. It's been quite a project for me to get through all six. The first one I played was IV back around September/October last year. So many great games, but this one is definitely the masterpiece! Although they've scaled back the customization afforded by the switchable job system, this game is in every way shape and form the culmination of the five titles that preceded it. It's fun, beautiful, captivating and will always have a place in my heart. Bravo Final Fantasy VI!

Anyway, on with the show...

We're back at the save point that's right before a hole. Drop down there and you'll be a few feet away from the last switch. So make sure to take a moment and do any last minute healing, equipping, etc. Once you step on the last switch, the scene before the final battle will be triggered. Kefka will finally appear and demonstrate the vast power he now has. You'll be asked to assemble a fighting order for the 12 characters you brought with you. Before you can fight him directly, you'll first have to face the 'Statue of the Gods' a three-tier series of bosses.

An important thing to know: if one of your characters is KOed and stays that way for long enough, they'll be swapped out for the next fighter on your roster. Spread out your heavy hitters a bit, but don't leave yourself spread too thin either. The first tier is 'Visage', who looks like a large demon. He has a 'Long Arm' and a 'Short Arm'. Visage has 30,000 HP and is weak against Fire. Long Arm has 33,000 HP, while Short Arm has 27,000. You'll notice I'm basically spamming Ultima. I know it's a bit boring and predictable, but this is the third time I've played through this game in less than a year. So please excuse the uninspired final battle.

The second tier is 'Tiger' and is joined by 'Power', 'Machine' and 'Magic'. Tiger also has 30,000 HP and is weak against Ice. Power has 28,000 HP and is weak against Poison. Machine has 24,000 HP and is weak against Lightning. Magic has 41,000 HP and is weak against Earth. Magic can also be silenced, which disables him completely.

The third tier is 'Lady' who is joined by 'Rest'. Lady has only 9,999 HP, while Rest has 40,000 HP. Neither has a weakness, but we're spamming Ultima anyway, so it doesn't matter. I have Terra using Dualcast on Ultima with Gogo using Mimic. That's all there is to it, really.

Finally, we have Kefka who has 62,000 HP. This guy is not tough at all. If you use the above strategy, he should die within three turns or so. Kefka's dead. Enjoy the ending! I always laugh at the little scene with Gogo.
