Final Fantasy 3 (FF3 or FF3j) never made it out of Japan in its original form, but the game was a hugely important title that helped establish Final Fantasy’s unique identity. In this retrospective video essay, I’ll explain why I consider FF3 to be the last true roleplaying game in the Final Fantasy series.
