I have realized that in my other [classic] demo archive which contains upwards of maybe totaling around 80K demos of: QuakeWorld, Quake 1, 2, 3, 3 Arena, Cpma, CompMode & ProMode; Counter-Strike; StarCraft and maybe some other stuff I can't remember now off the top of my head from Challenge-Tv, that I don't have any QuakeLive demos to post. So I have started to search for some around and I have realized that these are also indeed quite rare and prone to disappearing from the net. So I decided to throw these in the mix as well as an effort to cover a more variety of content because who knows if I may get to post everything if I go by the order of actual game release - Quake 1, 2, 3.. etc. lol.
There are also some demos that do not play in my QuakeLive and for those I discovered they will playback in Wolf-Cam so they will be generated through there. For the demos that work with my QuakeLive, they will be outputted with my personal graphics configurations which I think it's very great and optimal. As I've said before, QuakeLive is very finnicky with the graphics and it will lag when playing or even when playing back demos - it will drop frames. So my personal gfx set-up is set to Low-Medium and you will see clearly what is going on on-screen with a clean and neat interface. For Wolf-Cam, I have decided to leave it on default and on Max-Detail so I suppose we will get to see all the graphical details within the levels played. And I don't think that one lags that much because it's not a game-playing client but rather a demo-playing-back client. So I think all this is good because we are getting a good mix of demo playbacks with both types of display settings =]
Wolf-Cam is a very old program it seems (from 2011) and it does seem to have two deficiencies I have noticed. One is - the scoreboard display does not seem to work or display the correct score; two is - the hit sparks don't seem to display and instead we are getting a bunch of grey squares. I have no idea what this is or how to fix it - so we will just have to live with it =] The program [Wolf-Cam] does not accept, take or save any changes done to config; again idk why. But I have come to realize that maybe this is cool - we can do some mental arithmetic to keep track of the scores and now there will be definitely no more 2nd-guessing if the opponent got hit or not because we can clearly see the grey squares LOL! So why not ..hwe hwe hwe!
I also wanted to say that with this channel I don't intend to be a fanatical maniac and be a sort of like post-every-single-Quake-demo-ever type. I don't really think that is humanly realistically possible. But I do aim to post as much as I can but I am not a [totally] dedicated Archivist lol. If I happen to have stuff handy and able to post then I will, but I will not go super totally-over-my-head to do so. I also intend to stop at QuakeLive. I tend to like classic gaming better. I will not be covering Quake Champions for 2 (main) reasons:
(1) - I don't really like it that much. It's too much craziness going on on-screen and it's not really resembling of Quake to me much - it's too much of an 'Let's be like OverWatch' thing. That's the short explanation and reason and I don't intend to go too much into it here. (I also don't play it much either but maybe later I will idk). This is not saying I totally dislike the game, no, but it just isn't that closely aligned to me and my interests as the other Quakes are;
and (2) - The obvious reason - that there are plenty, plenty of other channels already dedicated to this game and having possibly up to 4K resolution playbacks and with live commentary. Something which I personally cannot compete with or have the time and resources to generate such a high caliber content. So it is really pointless for me to venture in this direction. -However- this is all great to watch and I will most likely watch these as well (down the line, when time permits me more) and will probably enjoy :-]
Lastly, if you haven't already noticed, the goal of this channel is to provide a relaxing in-betweens of the games I play on here with some good Quake demo-videos we could all learn a thing or two, but it's not all demo inclusive though.
Well that's all - so anyways, enjoy the shows :D
