Todays quick game review is G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor, and it's a pretty flippin' cool one. You action/platform around as different G.I. Joes that level up and gain stats sort of like an RPG.

The game is made by Capcom and it's for the NES, so you know it's probably good quality by default, and this one does not disappoint. The platforming feels nice, which is super important for a NES era game and is something Capcom never fails to deliver on. The graphics are passable, but they are probably the worst bit about the game. The sound is incredible, and the music reminds me a lot of Mega Man (some of my favourite NES music around). I got the music for this stuck in my head for days afterwards, haha. Finally, the gameplay itself is a lot of fun. It's just challenging enough that you don't breeze through everything, but not so hard that it's frustrating.

I really enjoyed playing this, and if it were a little cheaper I'd probably have already bought my own copy, hahah.

---[ Wikipedia Description ]---------------

Storyline:
Having survived the last time he fought the G.I. Joe Team, Cobra Commander has raised the ancient island of Atlantis from the ocean depths and is using it as a base. With a nearly indestructible army and powerful space weapons, the power-crazed Cobra is plotting to use the long lost powers of the Atlanteans in their bid to rule the world.

Gameplay:
The game's format is similar to that of Capcom's Bionic Commando series, with an overhead map of the various stages. In order to progress, the player must navigate the map and clear each sub-stage leading up to one of several Cobra bases. Once in a base, the player must fight through hostile Cobra forces and also complete a secondary mission (such as rescuing hostages, setting bombs, or locating a key item). Each base stage concludes with a battle against a Cobra leader (Overkill, Cesspool, Firefly, Major Bludd, Destro, and Cobra Commander).

There are several playable characters in the game: General Hawk, Roadblock, Wet Suit, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Duke. At the beginning of the game, the player can only use Hawk, and must unlock the other characters one by one by completing other stages. Once players have discovered a character, they can 'decide' which characters will come with them, and alternate between them during gameplay by pressing the “pause” button and accessing the pause menu. Each character has their own agility, stamina and strength rating, although they are not shown unlike the previous game.

In addition to the playable characters, Gung-Ho, Spirit, and Big Bear can be summoned to support the player by refilling life or weapon ammunition, though they must first be rescued by completing certain sub-stages. Stalker also appears but only in cutscenes, as he coordinates the mission from the G.I. Joe base.

Hey everyone! Not too much going on over here today. Sorry I didn't get a video up yesterday, I just wasn't up for editing anything. I'm trying to stick to a constant upload schedule of roughly one video a day, but there will definitely be days where I just don't feel up for it or don't have anything ready. My big goal is to never miss more than one day in a row, so when I do miss days people know I'll be back tomorrow with a video at least.

Today is gonna be a long day. I got very lackluster sleep last night, and I ended up sleeping from 2AM-5AM and again from 5:30AM-8:30AM. I hate when your sleep gets interrupted like that, it feels like you wasted the whole night. Even that's not a ton of hours to begin with, but when it's split up it's like neither of them counted. Oh well, if my big complaint is "I'm so tired" I guess I'm doing pretty well, hahah.

Hope all is well with you as well my friends!
