Update: luckily, in 2016 the beta version of the game including the scenario editor w/ offline playable maps has finally got available for download and install for the public! Search for "Age of Empires Online beta" in Google for more information and links!

This was the last day of AoEO - today its official server closed and the game unfortunately hasn't got playable offline, therefore on July 2, 2014 it's the time when we can delete the game from our PCs - it won't be playable anymore.
As the official Microsoft Games announcement said in the AoE launcher:
"The End is Nigh
Age of Empires Online will close on July 1st, 2014 at 4 PM PDT/11:00 PM UTC. At that time, the service will cease to function, and no further games can be played. The servers will be taken offline, and no features of the game or the game service will work without the servers. Until that date, the game will continue to fully function just as it does now. You can quest, raid, chat and trade as much as you like until then.
