8In researching more about the sturdy computer and the inventory function, I never found anything about it being removed from the game. I only saw that a lot of people assuming that is was removed due to all the bugs.
I was also told in the comments that I wasn't zooming in enough on the sturdy computer map for the details on the sea critter's location.
