Developed and published by Gremlin Graphics in 1991

Foreword: For some reason, the in-game music would only loop the same few notes over and over again. Therefore, I've overlaid the music as a separate audio track (not difficult as there's only a single piece of music and it just loops).

This is a video game adaptation of the high fantasy board-game from Games Workshop and Milton Bradley.

I have to admit that this game is something of an achievement in my opinion. The developers managed to translate the game rules and mechanics almost 1:1, created some great graphics, music and then crammed it all into a single 720k double-density floppy disk! They managed to create a working version for the C64, which is even more impressive, although it was devoid of any sound as I recall.

The video game adaptation makes things easier in some respects since it takes the role of the evil dungeon-master, so it will place all the monsters, doors and furniture for you. This means a single player could still enjoy the game, whereas you needed a minimum of 2 players for the real board-game.

This video shows all quests included in the game. I decided to use all 4 characters in play at once since it makes it a more complete longplay.

Unfortunately, there's no game completion screen or even text when you complete the final quest; it just goes back to the main menu.
