40A while ago, I was randomly playing a game while also listening to music. Out of nowhere, a simple question came to mind:
“What if I do an 8AAM-only run in Fleet Destruction?”
I have never used 8AAM, really. It has this gimmicky multi-stacking thing and also laughable homing capability and reload time. So I thought, “Nah, this would be a pointless challenge… but let’s just try it anyway.”
And so I did it. This video was actually my first time doing this, without prior attempts whatsoever. At first glance, I highly doubted whether I could even complete the mission, but in the end, I got an S rank, which was quite surprising.
This also confirmed several things. Firstly, ships somehow have extreme resistance against anti-air missiles. You could destroy those ships using anti-air ordnance for real, but of course it won’t be effective since you need a ton of them. Secondly, you can one-shot the platform cores with 8AAM just fine. It’s pretty odd considering you have this awful resistance for the ships, but for the cores, it’s a whole different story. I was astonished myself because of this inconsistency. As a result, I managed to get 50K points in this run. It would have been a different outcome if those cores had behaved differently.
Well, at least now I know that, in the future, I could utilize these multi-target air-to-air missiles to destroy ground targets if I were in a pinch. The classic Ace Combat experience!
