"His Girl Friday" (1940): Cary Grant Makes the News, Literally | Pizza and a Movie
Cinematic history is a forgotten history, and that's no mistake; the film industry is one of novelty, where old films are buried so that new films can be sold. After all, why would the studios of today want for their new films to compete against more than a hundred years of prior efforts? Public domain movies especially, being free, languish in a society that is often so singularly motivated by profit, but isn't there so much brilliance to be mined in these snapshots of historical entertainment? Pizza and a Movie is about rediscovering films to remember and appreciate the artistry that went into their creation so long ago and to appreciate the difference in eras between the worlds of yesterday and the worlds of today. Oh, and it's about pizza, too!
