Fallout 4 is an action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fourth main game in the Fallout series and was released on November 10, 2015. The game is set within an open world post-apocalyptic environment that encompasses the city of Boston and the surrounding Massachusetts region known as "The Commonwealth".
The game is set in the year 2287, 10 years after the events of Fallout 3. The player controls a character known as the "Sole Survivor", who emerges from a long-term cryogenic stasis in Vault 111, an underground nuclear fallout shelter. Similar to the Elder Scrolls series, the game takes place in an open world allowing the players to travel anywhere in the game world at any time and allowing the player to ignore or postpone the main line story indefinitely.
