Over a year ago I got to chat with Max Hoberman about the shortcomings of Waterworks in preparation of remaking it in Halo Infinite's Forge. The first version I made was designed to be 1:1 instead, but I always had plans of implementing those changes he and I spoke about. Max Hoberman's main criticisms were:

"The bases need some love (expansion). Too small, and not very viable alternative ways to attack them. Ideally the base design pulls defenders forward, forcing them to spread out and motivating them to expose themselves."

I made other redesign discoveries along the way, and have been listening to and collecting feedback from other players to inspire new thoughts and redesign ideas based on their issues.
