Element4l is an indie platformer from I-Illusions. Primarily developed by Dirk Van Welden, Element4l puts a strong focus on flow and smooth gameplay. It abandons traditional platforming mechanics and forces the player to think quickly, using inertia and momentum to master the use of the four elements.
This game is a big experiment, and simply put, it's easily one of the best games I've played this year. It's tough to get used to, but once you have a handle on things, it feels natural, and is incredibly rewarding. The artwork is gorgeous, the soundtrack is exceptional, gameplay is crisp and fluid - everything is just. so. good.
This is in that upper echelon of indie gems (Braid, Fez, TWA, etc.) that everyone needs to experience. I try (poorly) not to gush too often about games, but this is something special. Do yourself a favor and check this one out.
