The lamp I use with this remote I have only turned on once on the lamp ever... I just use this remote. It's a switch, but in an outlet instead of on the lamp! VERY USEFUL.
Just don't plug a SPACE HEATER ON HIGH into it... I used it for years on LOW but forgot it was plugged into the remote control outlet when I switched it over to high. That was too many watts and it FRIED THE DEVICE!!! No fire though, which is fire.
