This is a Shorts video and it was taken from my video titled: "Half-Life (100%) Walkthrough (Chapter 5: We've Got Hostiles)."

Gordon Freeman is against killing innocent life. But while these scientists were not EXACTLY innocent in terms of their questionable ethics, Gordon Freeman also doesn't believe in slaughtering unarmed civilians. So then, when he heard one of the Marines from the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit boast about killing "12 dumbass scientists and not one of them fought back", he felt vindicated when he took it upon himself to kill the Marines.
