AAI = Ace Attorney Investigations

The latest entry in Rukito's needle series. I played this when it came out, but quickly dropped it because I wasn't enjoying my time in stage 2 and I thought it would be way harder than I expected it would be. After a few years of thinking and seeing how there is a lack of a proper playthrough on YouTube except for zero's which you can only find on Bilibili in low quality unless you login I decided to record everything since I wanted to go for 100% to see how hard and scary the secrets would be.

Apologies for the lack of sounds during 21:40-23:31. I muted the game everytime I looked at zero's video, and one time I accidentally muted OBS so the audio didn't get recorded even if the game was unmuted. I synced the music so it doesn't bother you :P

I'd say the maingame is pretty solid in gameplay up to stage 6 where the difficulty goes all over the place. It starts to spam jumps with awkward turns, low frame jumps or random vstring nonsense that you don't know about until you saw someone play the save or you somehow figured it out yourself. I feel like everything in this game is possible without cancels, but doing cancels where its needed makes everything much easier.

There are also 7 optional secrets which you can collect if you find the secret warp that leads to a remixed stage of Rukito's older games and beating that stage. Getting all secrets gives you the 100% clear, with additional clear text getting marked red on the difficulty menu. Most of them were pretty fun, but there were a few stinkers (mainly PYF) that soured my experience with awkward saves that turn into luck checks after a while of playing.

A brief overview of how to get to every secret:
Secret 1: First screen first save. Press P six times, on the sixth time the pause text changes to CONGRATS! and it warps you there
Secret 2: Second screen second save. Shoot the left wall while shooting inbetween the ceiling and platform
Secret 3: Second screen first save. Grab the align on the previous screen and jump in the 11px gap
Secret 4: Third screen first save. Move the spike with your cursor and get in the wall
Secret 5: First screen second save. Die to the fruit and press B
Secret 6: First screen second save. Find an invisible warp at a random drop, then fall down left in the X room
Secret 7: Beat the boss, warp back to the boss room, then jump right after jumping on the platforms

Every Rukito game must end with a boss, and unlike his other games there is only a single boss at the end instead of 2 bosses. Out of all his games I've played this one was the most fun as its easy to learn and it rarely becomes unfair. The worst thing that can happen is that you tend to get walled more often on the second phase which happened to me 3 times before I cleared on my fourth phase 2 attempt.

Phase 1 has 5 HP and Phase 2 has 2 HP. The boss (Miles Edgeworth) will randomly switch between 4 characters, with an additional character showing up in the second phase. Its possible to get multiple in a row.

These characters are the following:
Phase 1:
Justine Courtney (29:22, 4 HP) - She shoots big rocks which you must break, and every successful hit spawns smaller rocks until the rock breaks. You must be careful to not kill her as the second rock spawns so you make it to the platform on time.
Sebastian Debeste (29:47, 5 HP) - He shoots arrows which target your current position, so you must cycle between standing on the floor and jumping in the air so the arrows don't hit you.
Raymond Shields (31:54, 4 HP) - Doesn't attack you, but instead gives you one of two debuffs: Getting rid of your double jump or you keep your double jump but the screen turns upside down. Killing him undoes the debuff.
Shi-Long Lang (32:18, 5 HP) - Spawns a bunch of rocks every 4 seconds. Its best to play slow and not shoot too frequently.

Phase 2:
Kay Faraday (31:49) - She will randomly decide to move left or right and attempt to stomp you, after which she disappears and reappears after 3 seconds to try again.

Lastly, a few personal lists about what I found from every stage and secret in terms of difficulty and enjoyment:
Enjoyment (Least to most fun)
Stages: 6 → 2 → 1 → 7 → 4 → 3 → 5
Secrets: PYF → SSR → MMM → KTR → RZ → GR → SSR2

Difficulty (Easiest to hardest)
Stages: 3 → 1 → 5 → 4 → 2 → 7 → 6
Secrets: GR → SSR→ RZ → SSR2 → MMM → PYF → KTR

Don't know what game I will go for next. CRZ looks too daunting for me and I already didn't enjoy RZ that much.
